The links course at County Sligo Golf Club, affectionately known as Rosses Point, is likely the most famous of the many fine links golf courses in northwest Ireland and, in the opinion of many a source, the best links course in the area. Located outside of the pleasant town of Sligo, Rosses Point is beautifully situated on Drumcliff Bay, with spectacular views of the sea and Benbulben. With such appealing scenery all around, the golfer could be forgiven for being distracted from the golf task at hand, but that would be a mistake as the course at Rosses Point is a classic Irish links golf course.
The course at Rosses Point is routed over fine linksland, with many natural dunes and hollows, well-placed bunkers, and strategically sited greens. While there are many good holes at County Sligo Golf Club, it is the par four 17th, a testing 440 yard hole that meanders through and up into the dunes, that will linger longest in the golfer's memories of his golf tour of Ireland. After the round, the golfer will receive a warm welcome in the friendly clubhouse and may enjoy his pint while taking in the splendid views over the course and the surrounding area.
