Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club is a short but enjoyable links course set on the Chanonry Peninsula to the north of Inverness . Though not of modern “championship” standard at only 5880 yards, with a beautiful setting and a number of fine links holes, a round at Fortrose & Rosemarkie is a pleasant addition to any Scottish golf tour based in the Highlands.
Fortrose & Rosemarkie is one of the many outstanding Scottish golf links designed by the legendary Scottish golf architect, James Braid. At Fortrose & Rosemarkie, Mr. Braid has left us with a course that includes many strong links holes, including the 4th, a par five of a mere 455 yards with a two-tier fairway and a green that is well protected by dunes. Though this may be the most difficult short par five we have played, it is also one of the most scenic, located as it is at the tip of the Chanonry Peninsula, with stunning views of the lighthouse and the sea (and, if you are lucky, of the school of dolphins that frequents these waters).
For those looking to experience a “local” Scottish links course in a beautiful setting, Fortrose & Rosemarkie is a nice choice for a northern Scotland golf vacation.
