Tain Golf Club is another of the many fine Scottish links courses originally laid out by the great Scottish player and architect, Old Tom Morris, in the 19th century. Located just a few miles from Dornoch, a round at Tain is an easy addition to any Scottish golf tour that is focused on the famed course at Royal Dornoch.

There are many fine links holes at Tain, the best of which have been changed little from the original designs by Old Tom Morris. These include the 435 yard 3rd hole, a wonderful par four with a second shot played over a hill to a well protected green, the 380 yard 11th hole (Alps), with the second shot played over a large dune towards the Dornoch Firth to a hidden green, and the 215 yard 17th, a demanding par three played across a winding burn.

With a fine links course and an inviting clubhouse, we recommend a round at Tain for any northern Scottish golf trip that looks to include one or more of Scotland 's fine lesser-known links courses as part of the itinerary.
